The Policy Statements issued by the North Carolina State Board of Examiners in
Optometry are interpretive statements that explain or define the Board's
position in regards to the reading of the laws and the Board's rules and
regulations governing the practice of optometry in North Carolina.
In its Policy Statements, the Board attempts to articulate some of the
standards it believes applicable to the practice of optometry in the State of
North Carolina. They are not intended to be comprehensive or to set out
exhaustively every standard that might apply in every circumstance. Therefore,
the absence of a Policy Statement or a Policy Statement's silence on certain
matters should not be construed as the lack of an enforceable standard.
